I'm awfully late writing this post, as the DC Pride Parade was a few weeks ago! But with the latest victory against DOMA and NY Pride this weekend, I think it's a good time to finally attempt to put the glittery, confetti-filled event into words.
We got to Dupont Circle two hour early to secure a great spot; with Starbucks sweet tea in hand and sunglasses slightly askew, we people-watched as the excitement started to build.
And, it. was. so. EXCITING.
Linda Carter, beautiful men with water guns, feathers, confetti, fun music....
Everything a pride parade should be.
During the two hours parade, we laughed (mostly), teared up (a little...due to the overwhelming compassion of PFLAG and the various churches that showed support), ducked water guns, caught beads...and when it was over, we wished it wasn't.
HUZZAH PRIDE!
