We've recently become OBSESSED with the long cancelled show, Pushing Daisies. If you haven't seen it- and I must insist that you do, immediately- it is a delightful mix of noir, comedy, and quirk. It is a mash-up of Six Feet Under, Amelie, and The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. It really IS that intriguing. And I don't think there has been a better love story than that between Ned and Chuck. (And can we talk about Chuck's clothes? To. Die. For... Haha.)
Well, as it were, one cannot watch endless hours of Pushing Daisies (okay, not endless- just a mere two seasons) without developing a mean hankering for pie. That hankering led us to Georgetown's Pie Sisters- a charming, little dessertery just on the DC end of the Key Bridge. We traversed said bridge through mighty wind and stinging cold (okay, it was just cold and windy, but since we were hungry and we walked across a whole bridge for pie, I feel I must embellish) and stumbled into the little pie shop. While not as quirky or thematic as the Pie-Hole, the offerings were many and the coffee hot. They even offered cuppies, which, if you've watched the show, makes this place even better. We tried every flavor they offered that particular day in the cuppie size- jumbleberry, chocolate cream, lemon meringue, pecan chocolate bourbon, cherry, and apple. Our unanimous favorites were the chocolate cream and lemon meringue, followed by the pecan chocolate bourbon. While we wouldn't classify ourselves as 'pie-people', Pie Sisters is delicious and fun and out of the everyday cupcake-iness that is Georgetown.
And then we went home and watched more Pushing Daisies. We are anything, if not consistent.
p.s.
Pushing Daisies fans, have you seen this?!!!
Many Huzzahs,
Janice & Jared
I have been wanting to watch Pushing Daisies FOR-EV-ER. I think I might just get on that. Love your blog, by the way!

Thanks! You won't regret it! Or you will, because there is only two seasons :(
